We had an employee's wife who rescheduled her final hearing because ICE was believed to be at the hearing location. I guess its like shooting fish in a barrel. I don't think its "right" or what we were promised, but its lawful to deport individuals who are here illegally.
It doesn't matter whether you call it authoritarian or I call it overly aggressive enforcement of the law, we wouldn't be in this situation but for a history of very lax immigration enforcement, which reached its unprecedented peak under Biden. How is the level of authority exerted any different between someone that aggressively enforces the law versus someone who chooses not to enforce the law. Both parties take full advantage of "elections have consequences". I'm a "two wrongs, don't make a right" type of person, but lets not pretend that Democrats didn't take full advantage of their authority and employ authoritarian like tactics during Covid by requiring medical treatment and restricting the public and private activities of citizens.
