I understand the concept of differentiating between Dems and Leftists, but is that difference even relevant anymore? Look at the Democrat leadership endorsing Mamdani and trying to protect criminal illegal aliens, just to name a couple extreme Left issues. The Dems already ran off Joe Manchin and are looking to primary Fetterman.

Agreed - no difference at this point in time. There are still “classic” liberals - JK Rowling, Bill Maher, John Fetterman, Steven A Smith. But the party is now controlled by Leftists. Things could change - as they have the past couple decades to where Dems are led by liberals.

It is only going to get worse. Increasing numbers of Ds support socialism over capitalism according to polling. Right now more hold a favorable view of socialism vs capitalism.
Socialism just doesn't work. All it does is create more government control over people and business. And as that control increases, so does corruption and inefficiency.
The positive view of socialism comes about from what they are exposed to during their educational years.

It’s because our version of capitalism isn’t working for the majority as advertised (beyond the corporate propaganda to the contrary). Not all capitalism is implemented in the same way.
The same can be said about communism and socialism. Socialism works pretty well in Scandinavia, not so well in the rest of "socialist" Europe. Stalin's version of communism lost the idealism of Lenin and became an excuse for removing anyone he deemed to be a threat or competitor. Vietnam's communism is working out well enough so that they are back to exporting its rice surpluses.
