Good to see Swanson keeping the 06s, really like his teams and their style of play.

Seems pretty early for tryouts. Is this going to be the new normal? Are people expected to make commitments prior to State Cup/National Cup and/or will they be moving teams prior?

I'm afraid the early tryouts are here to stay, with the Youngers, clubs are looking to pick up potential transfers and even if they can't lock up a pre State / National Cup move they can get commitments as early as possible for next season.

No one club worse than any others as almost all clubs have tryouts coming up.

Could scdsl/Cal South try to put a stop to this?
The clubs and parents keep doing this earlier every year. Season just wrapped up a few weeks ago. Let the kids with injuries heal up a bit. Let a kid who wants to improve something take some time to work on it. Let the parents take a breather and not have to scramble around to find the right team. Let the clubs figure out where their coaches will wind up next year.

Cal South has had a difficult time holding anyone accountable for various reasons. Leagues like SCDSL were specifically formed to allow clubs to practices their "business" with less overnight and expand to make more money. Reeling anyone in at this point would be difficult but not impossible. But with DA coming into the fold and the rumors of the move ECNL will attempt to pull off next season, it looks like it'll get worse before it gets better. As a parent / consumer it really is up to us hit 'em where it hurts, their wallets.

My DDs have been getting the usual offers this time of year, and although they're flattering, unless we're truly unhappy with our situation we tend to honor our commitment because they've been shown the same loyalty by their club / coach. Not always the case, but we've been pretty lucky. Choose the person, not the patch is the way we tend to go.

Didn't mean to highjack the thread, wishing West Coast all the best in their tryouts, have a few friends there that say it's a quality program.
