5 players just left one of their teams to come to RSC. They all played for TK. Wonder how much catching up they have to do!

When your daughter plays one of this older Eagles teams let me know how many look like they know what they are doing. Feel bad for this kids cuz they have a lot of learning to do because of TK.

I’ll give the Eagles credit they finally have the right man running the DA. Will take time for them to filter out the bad ones

Question for you rainbow_unicorn, was there any movement in the top 40 teams?

Not really. By the time we got into state cup, we have so many games logged that only a HUGE goal differential game (e.g. losing to a team 0-8 that you should be beating 8-0) would result in some type of movement. Keep in mind that this is a score predictor and not a subjective ranker with the games at the beginning of the year (e.g. spring CSL league) have the same weighting as the very last games of state cup.

Here is my theory on the weaker Eagles olders teams in the olders vs RSC:

When ECNL was the dominant/highest level play, RSC had a virtual monopoly/huge advantage on a massive geographic region (much like SD Surf had during these years). This region that RSC attracted olders from gave them a huge genetic pool from which to recruit ECNL players from many good non-ECNL satellite clubs. This region extended well beyond the greater San Fernando Valley, including Los Angeles and West Los Angeles given there were no other close ECNL options in the area. For parents of 11, 12, 13, and 14 year olds looking to have their child compete at the highest level and/or be seen by colleges, RSC was the closest option, and thus RSC had a much higher likelihood of becoming a stronger olders team than their Eagles ECNL counterparts since the Eagles geographic market (genetic pool) was so much smaller and was an even longer commute for children in the SF Valley or West Los Angeles etc. As RSC naturally grew stronger in the older years from this regional market advantage, this would also attract some Eagles players to their high level team as well that lived in the Camarillo and Conejo Valley region (close commute to RSC).

Now that we have DA, there are a lot more options for parents/children in this geographic region, to play the highest level soccer in the region. LA Premier DA (Pasadena), LA Galaxy DA (Carson), Beach DA (long beach) etc. It will be interesting to see how this affects RSC in 2 or 3 years. My guess is that current high level players already on RSC that are commuting will finish out their high school years with RSC since they are winning teams and they are almost done with club soccer years anyway (and the child may be of driving age as well). So we may not see much change in the 2004 and older RSC teams being dominant. But the parents of the 11, 12 and 13 year olds who are making the choice on where to look to play, will think twice about commuting 45 minutes in traffic to RSC, and instead may choose to play for LA Premier DA or LA Galaxy DA closer to home given their parents busy schedules (since the parent is the one who has to drive them). This will naturally cause the LA Premier DA and LA Galaxy DA teams to become more attractive competitive alternatives vs a long commute to RSC. It will be interesting to see if RSC can maintain their dominance as the 2005 and younger teams transition to DA.
