December 12th, 2018 – 8:15 – 9:45 pm @ Pasadena High School
2925 E. Sierra Madre Blvd, Pasadena, Ca, 91107

F.C. Golden State is currently recruiting experienced players for our 2006 Girls Silver Soccer Team, Coached by Jesus Gurrola. We are looking to add 4 to 5 experienced Silver Elite/Flight 1-2 Players to fill out our current roster for the upcoming CSL Spring and 2019/20 CYSA Fall Soccer Season as well as upcoming Tournaments and Events

Ideally, all girls trying out should already be well developed players with advanced ball skills and competitive club soccer experience. We are looking for impact players who have a high soccer IQ with excellent field of vision, that can quickly make smart on-field decisions

Our current group of girls, having only been together the past 2 seasons, led by Coach & Mentor, Jesus Gurrola, has already established a strong foothold on our teams future, building a solid foundation around a core group of talented young players, who have steadily been making their mark in the SoCal Soccer Scene racking up the wins and
putting up some pretty impressive showings as of recent

Hahaha... You know how it goes. We're just trying to build and improve on what we currently have to make us better. We really do have a solid team and core group of players. We currently have 13 players on our roster at the present time and coach is just looking to fill some voids to control and strengthen a few minor weaknesses. We gave away a lot of games this year racking up 5 ties, because somehow, someway, we always seemed to let our opponents back in the game towards the latter minutes and score for the tie or lose by a goal. Sadly, it's been a familiar trend that's happened one too many times and just a bit too often for our liking. Seems like we were always playing that same tune almost every other week. See what Santa brings for us....

Is your daughter the keeper or center back? Looks like that is the core you speak of and now all you have to do is build a new team around that "solid team" of two. Should be easy enough. :)

Spend some time not worrying about results and keep developing the solid girls you have (it sounds like you have a strong team). If you do that, this ‘results problem’ you speak of will fix itself over time. Patience is a tough word in youth soccer but it’s invaluable for those who have it.

Excuse the self-promotion here but below is the ‘result’ of not focusing on results and prioritizing behavior/effort and the process instead. We all want to win but letting the focus of winning take a back seat is paradoxically often the best way to win more.

Good luck!

I take a loss or tie pretty badly - usually takes midweek before I’m over it. For me as long as kids put in a good effort, over things more quickly. Sometimes only thing we can control is effort and listening/execution of a plan. Had a team that took 3-4 years together to get to point to win playoffs this year. Another one of my teams, after 3 years together. was at same point & qualiying for higher level circuits - then a couple big clubs dangled the shiny object and 5 kids left. Yeah his year was rough for that team but after seeing they were not going to compete to win in the league, even more emphasis was placed to develop the kids on the field and between the ears. You still get crazy parents wanting to win every game, we tried to, but still have a bigger responsibility to help the kids grow. You might not get all the accolades but have to look at the bigger picture - most people in youth soccer are nearsighted . Good coaches can “sell” a parent regardless of record. Bad coaches/clubs will always have a revolving door.
