I did. Who? Not sure what teams you are seeing.
There won't be any DA teams. For the 05 age, those "Pre-Academy" teams that qualified by CRL or National cup will be replaced with their second teams(DPL).
Acceptance e-mails indicated they were planning on 16, but with 14 they could still pull of a "Premier League" format where everyone plays each other once, but signs seem to point to them going towards a group / elimination format which would be new.
With the group elimination format that seems they could possibly cut down on the number of games.
I liked the league format where everyone played everyone once. There are 11 play dates though, so you can either play groups and eliminate a day or if it’s a league format you’d need to add 2 days or double up on games on a couple of days.
I prefer they play everyone as well, CRL price remains high and one of the attractions was playing everyone and their being a league winner based on playing all the teams.
CRL play dates are in 2 weeks. Has anyone heard where games maybe located? I'm assuming Silverlakes like last year.
The opening weekend last year was at Galloway downs and it was 110 degrees both days.
OC Great Park! Sweet!
I'll be creating a new thread for the CRL League, but with the schedules now posted we can also see the group format come into play for CRL.
San Diego Surf - Brookfield
LA Galaxy San Diego - Pre-Academy
Beach FC Long Beach - Pre Academy
IE Surf Premier
Real So Cal - Pre-Academy
LA Galaxy South Bay - Pre-Academy
Albion - Pre-Academy
Pateadores - Pre-Academy
OC Surf - Pre-Academy
South Valley Gore
The format will be interesting in terms of post group play and total numbers of games as well. At a glance the games to watch on the opening weekend will be:
San Diego Surf (Brookfield) vs Legends Pre-Academy
SoCal Academy vs. OC Surf - Pre-Academy
Albion vs. LA Galaxy SB - Pre-Academy
Beach FC Pre-Academy vs. San Diego Surf (Brookfield)
Looking forward to it. I’m in Mexico on vacation and need some light reading.
Game #1 Update
RSC 1-0 IE Surf, 10 minutes in.
PK goal after a hand ball in the box. Nice shot, low and away to the left.
Was it a legit pk? Did the ref refer to VAR?
Start of the 2nd half, 1-0 RSC.
@Willy has his camera on the sidelines, but ref didn't need it, it was a clear handball.
2-0 RSC, @Willy 's DD with the great 1 vs 1 on the right wing, cross into the box, great first save by #GiantKeeper, RSC with a nice rebound shot in from the backside.
3-0 RSC shot hit the post, bounced in off of #GiantKeeper after she dove, and ball went into the goal.
Game is all RSC, IE Surf only opportunities have been a few counters. Good skill and movement from RSC.
3-0 RSC over IE Surf, final
