Your Daughter's Journey

I coached AYSO for my DD until 7 years old.. She surpassed me by then.
8 Years old played for Arsenal
9-11 Years old for Celtics - Coach Hector Sanchez, Great Coach!
12 Years old Chelsea SE - She sat on the bench but the team has great families.
12-16 Legends Black - Coach Matt Hodges, RIP, Great Guy!
16-18 Legends Black/FC/Academy - Coach Andy Placencia - Got my daughter college ready.

4 Year Varsity High school.

My daughter is playing for the San Francisco State Gators. She is going to move in soon, happy that she will live in a great city, dorm with the soccer team, get priority registration and be a collegiate athlete.

My daughter was a bench warmer until she got to Legends. She put in the work in training and private training. She is still working hard and will hopefully peak years from now. I am proud of who she has become and I feel that club soccer played a major role. Hard work rate, late nights studying to make good grades, having a talent at something and working hard in a team is a recipe for success.

I have met some great people through club soccer, Nogoal was one of them. Club soccer parents make great parents!
Let's give ourselves a pat on the back. We put in a lot of time, money and work for our kids!

I have one more kids still playing.. he is trying out for the Arsenal Academy team... Good times go by fast..

Hey there NoGoal and Colombiano!!! I hope you and your DD's and families are well.
My DD stopped played soccer many moons ago to pursue her love of distance running. She had a very successful HS running career where in 4 years her team won States 3 years and finished in 2nd the other year. She leaves for college next month to continue her education and running career. She will be attending Amherst College (not UMass). She "thinks" she likes cold weather.
Also the EPL Fantasy League is back for another year so please don't forget to register your team.
All the best!!!!

This was a great read on the process through the years! Congrats to your daughter.

Lets see if I remember correctly. I may be a bit fuzzy on her team's accomplishments or level of play:
U8 - AYSO
U8 (last 1/2 of the fall season) - Hotspurs / AA-A (I think)
U9 - Hotspurs - Presidio (AA-B)
U10 - Surf Blue (B team) - Presidio AAA
U11 - Surf Blue - Presidio AAA
U12 - Surf Blue - Presidio AAA - State Cup Semi-finalist or quarter finalist (pretty far for a B team either way)
U13 - Surf White SDCSL - National Cup Champs/ Region IV Finalist
U14 - Surf ECNL - National Championship Quarter Finalist
U15 - Surf ECNL - Tore her ACL in the break between fall and spring National Championship Semi- Finalist
U16 - Surf ECNL - Re-tore her ACL in HS - National Champs
U17 - Surf ECNL - ACL reconstruction didn't take. 3rd surgery - National Championship Semi-Finalist
U19 - Surf ECNL - Played 2nd half of the season. National Championship Finalist
My daughter got injured in 8th grade and didn't really play again until the 2nd half of her senior year. With all of that, she was still recruited by a couple of small midwest colleges (D2 and NAIA), but in the end she decided to attend a school where she wanted to be, in case she was injured again. The current college coach has known her since the U10 days. They have had several conversations over the last few months. She is once again working hard. Fitness has been the biggest issue for her over the last few years (mind is willing, the body just isn't able). The new coach's style is a lot like her club teams. She seems to value smaller players with skill instead of big, strong and fast. But, move-in day is in a couple of weeks. How bad will she want this when she is out of the house and will have to be self-motivated? Only she knows the answer. Her old hs boys coach will let her train with them this fall. If she doesn't get fit with them, then she never will ;)
