Agreed! Just the way it should be settled....on the fieldWho wins this should be the best team without any rankings needed
Very interesting thread, how can a computer predict the scores of 8 year old girls? You get deducted if you don't blow out teams?Ok, this is the last I'm going to talk in regards to CDA Slammers. For the record, CDA Slammers and Blues are the top two teams in the age group IMHO. The CDA win against Blues at Cerritos Memorial was impressive considering how talented Blues was. The reason why the algorithm puts them lower is because of a few games:
CDA Slammers 6 - LA Premier FC 0 (prediction = 8.5 goal difference)
CDA Slammers 9 - Legends East Corona 1 (prediction = 10.2)
CDA Slammers 4 - CDA Slammers 2010 2 (prediction 5.2)
CDA Slammers 4 - LAGSD Lines 0 (prediction = 8.8)
CDA Slammers 2 - Slammers FC Bryant 1 (prediction = 4.3)
I removed these games from the calculation and CDA Slammers comes out as number 1 by a good margin. But, that's just the nature of the algorithm..each one of these wins where you didn't blow the team away as badly as the algorithm guessed eventually hurts the overall SRS score.
The reason why these rankings should be taken LIGHTLY is because there could be any number of reasons for goal differentials. Maybe a team lets off the gas in order to give their bench players more playing time. Maybe the coach makes the team start playing keep away against really bad teams.
In short, be proud of your team's accomplishments, enjoy watching your daughters kick ass out there, have fun and ENJOY. Don't let silly numbers cloud any of that.
No way CDA is 3rd, joke[/
Good team but not the best team that I have seen.No way CDA is 3rd, joke
Blues probably 1 and CDA 2I think it's time for an update of the top 80 teams now that some tournaments have been completed.
No disrespect to yourself and all the hard work that you do but let's all come to a conclusion that this system does not work . You have CDA ranked below Newport is a shame.. 2nd time CDA completely dominated Newport and they are still 3rd. System is broken.PLEASE READ FIRST: This is an Excel non-linear optimization/algorithm that builds a predictive ranking based on previous scores. TAKE THIS FOR WHAT IT IS. These are numbers only...don't want to hear about how this team should be higher than this team. Also, PLEASE KEEP PERSPECTIVE...these are 8 and 9 year old girls. Player development and enjoying the game come first...everything else is a distant second. Read here for more info on the Excel solver optimization: http://www.advancedfootballanalytic...h/general/199-ranking-teams-with-optimization.

The "Rank" column is based on 2017 results alone. The "2016" column is based on a combination of 2016 (0.5 weight) and 2017 (1.0 weight) games combined.
Tango is probably from NewportNo disrespect to yourself and all the hard work that you do but let's all come to a conclusion that this system does not work . You have CDA ranked below Newport is a shame.. 2nd time CDA completely dominated Newport and they are still 3rd. System is broken.

I seen the link.. but The formula is trash
The formula not yourselfhttp://socalsoccer.com/threads/top-10-thread.3742/page-2#post-97564
Statistically CDA and Newport are basically even. Think of it this way...if CDA beats Newport by 4 goals in each of two games...but then Newport and CDA play two other same teams and Newport blows them out 8-0 each time but CDA only beats them by 4-0, then they will statistically be even. Looking at the results, that is what is happening. Newport is good at beating lower teams by a big margin...but has difficulty beating the top teams (w/ exception of one win against Blues).
I hadn't seen this 08 Cruz play before. They were playing SD Surf. Great game with some very talented young girls. The Slammers were very physical and a few came in for tackles hard and late. Unfortunately, the refs let it get out of control in the first half. In the second, refs called it a bit tighter. the Slammers parents were loud and vocal early and escalated from there. One Surf player was literally taken out 3 different times by two different players after passing the ball. She got up each time slowly and gingerly, except the last one and had to be helped off the field. I heard one of the Slammers parents loudly call out "What a cry-baby!" The Surf parent of the girl, almost came unglued and needed other Surf parents holding him back. You'll have to settle for CDA's 2008 sideline. They won't disappoint you either.

I think the point is that if an adult is calling somebody else's kid a crybaby then that adult is actually the immature one.Was she a crybaby?
Instead of a 10 ten thread for this age group, you should have top ten loser sidelines thread. Sounds like CDA would be #1!I hadn't seen this 08 Cruz play before. They were playing SD Surf.
