Schedules for the 2004's are posted here: https://tgs.totalglobalsports.com/public/schedules.aspx?eid=400&fid=1698

I see at least one conflict in the schedule that has a team playing two matches at the same time, so things may still change a little.

I think this will be the first time we actually see So Cal DA teams competing against each other in an event. Man City Cup has Surf DA, but the other DA teams present are from out of town. Cerritos Memorial has West Coast DA, but I don't see any other So Cal DA's at that event. Legends Showcase looks to have Legends, Beach, West Coast, and LA Premier DA programs all playing each other.

Should be interesting.........

Well - I think this first showcase with four So Cal DA teams playing each other has left me optimistic.

West Coast had a win and two ties (2-1 win over Beach, 2-2 tie against Legends, 0-0 tie against LA Premier). To my eyes, it seems like they have had the most continuity of these four DA teams. They were playing pretty cohesively, but may have worn out a bit as the weekend went on. The Norco heat did a bit of that on all the teams. Doug Swanson has an excellent group of girls that should prove to be very solid. Excellent speed and skill up top and strong at each position on the rest of the field. They'll have a chance in every game this weekend. Excellent keeper play, too.

LA Premier had two losses and a tie (0-6 loss to Legends, 0-2 loss to Beach, 0-0 tie against West Coast). Dido has started a project and just in the games this weekend you could see the team starting to pull ideas together. I saw familiar faces from some other teams that have decided to move over to LA Premier and it will take some time for everything to gel. But, I bet this team will be at a different level in a few months as Dido gets more time with them.

Legends had a win, a loss, and a tie (6-0 win over LA Premier, 2-2 tie against West Coast, 2-4 loss to Beach). It looks like this group of girls has come together from a number of different teams, so it will also take them a bit to really gel. Once that happens, it will be scary. They have excellent players all over the field and should challenge in every competition they choose to play. Whether it is speed, strength, or skill (take your pick) the team has it at different spots, with a handful of players I would count as game-changers. I suspect we will see Legends near the top of the standings once the DA season rolls around.

Beach had two wins and a loss (1-2 loss to West Coast, 2-0 win over LA Premier, 4-2 win over Legends). Beach is similarly pulling a few groups of girls together from various teams and will take some time for Coach Arrache to implement his philosophy. However, they showed the ability to knock the ball around the field in very quick fashion at times this weekend with multiple threats willing to finish at any given time. Multiple strikes in quick succession against Legends showed a bit of their capability. Similar to Legends, I suspect the Beach team will have a pretty high top end this year.

Overall, it was a very interesting weekend to watch. I could see some of the player movement that has been all over the forum threads. All four of the teams had players I recognized that used to play for different clubs last season. I also know things will change quite a bit for these teams. I believe both Beach and Legends had players missing time this weekend due to injuries and that may have been the case for the others. With that said, there were some very competitive games. I'm looking forward to seeing how some of the other DA teams look as the summer progresses!

BTW - when did all these girls get so big and fast? A number of plays this weekend were made by girls that closed the distance to the ball at lighting speed and a few of the shots I saw were more like long-distance cannons. Technically 2004 may still be u-little, but they don't look that way anymore.

Maybe u-middle???

This weekend showed different styles and also parity. Lot of spectators at Legends games - coaches, Slammer parents. Legends - Arsenal back line looked great. LA Premier also had some strong back play as well and will improve as time goes by. West Coast played their strong passing, possession style of play, playing without 3 of their starters for Sunday's games. Look forward to seeing Surf and Slammers.

Your Beach starting midfielders looked impressive against Legends, especially at the attacking position (#71? Was she a guest??)- Small, but with great speed and skill and able to zip it up to some good shooters. Team did show the ability to "knock the ball around the field" quickly as you say, playing through that midfield which was nice to see. Plus your keeper made a really brilliant play that stopped what looked to be a sure Legends goal. Legends, what can you say? That team has the potential to be a firing squad. They turned it up at some points of the game, but came up short (or lo00ng actually). I'm sure they will be a tough game for all teams going forward with that line-up of talent.
