Solid looking predictions. Thanks!

Some questionable teams who made the cut certainly - more discouraging are the teams left out of the show. No where near the top flight that it could/should have been.

Regardless - good luck to all.

i could not agree more sombitch

hit the nail on the head !!!

Were there teams that applied that didn't get in - or do we think it was just a lack of applicants this year that is giving us just the one flight for our age-group?

I know for a fact Carlsbad teams across most ages applied and didn't get in. Based on some of the other teams that did get in,....this is odd.

Surf 2003 egsl team too did not get in. This doesn't surprised me as much since they are a B team ,.. But they too are more deserving than many of the current flight 1 teams

Additionally why waste the time and money to host those games at oside when you aren't even ulitizing all of the field time and space? I am not sure why there are not two flights at age where applicable ?

I know of a good tournament director or two if you looking for one.

I don't know about the particular field utilization #s at this tournament. I will say though that if the other option is to maximize $s for the host by running 25 minutes halves and stacking games so that there is zero warm-up time between games, I suspect most teams would prefer this tournament's setup?

I am sure the Blues had the option to do this, and chose not to for whatever reason...but likely not because their tournament director couldn't figure out the logistics.

I appreciate the truth you have shared here SB. I am kind of torn with your comments. On one hand, I would like my dd's team to play the very best competition available from the teams that applied. On the other hand, her team can play (and will play) Surf EGSL, LAGSD, etc. during the summer tournaments. in the Fall league or even a scrimmage (imagine that concept!), so it's nice to play teams that we normally don't get a chance to play. In her bracket, they play Davis Legacy, Blues Helm and LVPSA. Obviously a scrimmage with Blues Helm could be arranged, but the games against Davis and LVPSA would be much harder to arrange.

After a while, it is less fun to play the same teams over and over.

Couldn't agree more about the 25 minute halves. I know everyone is in agreement there

With regard to playing new teams of course that makes sense too. A good director can schedule accordingly. A good director can make a great match up happen that everyone wants to see like eagles real so cal lol.

My point is there are undeserving teams in flight one. The selection process was lacking certainly for only having one bracket

I think we all can see who they are. How many of those teams have never been accepted to Blues Cup,.. Let alone flight 1. Let's start there.

I get SomB's point. But who cares? I'm sure that Surf Sports is happy to take Blues money to give to Surf Soccer Club, even if Blues isn't willing to take Surf Soccer Clubs money for Blues Cup. $tupid, on Blues part, if you ask me. But who's asking'?

So you know for a fact that top surf teams applied and were rejected? And how do you know this? And if you get SomB's point, who doesn't belong and why (since he won't answer)?
