34 of these players are 2003 birth year and 2 are 2004. These are the players who are at the beginning of the pipeline. I know that many don't think that players start getting recruited this early but trust me the blue blood programs will be at this camp and maybe a few of the upper crust that aren't the creme de le creme.

Early recruiting is the new normal and the recent Pugh news is only going to accelerate it. Welcome to the jungle...

My daughter is one of the 36 players selected. To say we are proud is an understatement. However, it was told and told again to us in many emails, no college coaches are allowed to watch the two open games to family/friends, so please do not invite them ;)

No invitation is needed. Several college coaches do scouting for US Soccer and trust me when I say the tip top colleges are allowed at these events and if they coincide with their schedules they will be there. They are in constant communication with the national team coaches believe me. I have attended plenty of "closed" scrimmages before and I am not a college coach. I saw a "closed" scrimmage recently that had at least 2 coaches that I recognized.

Congratulations to your daughter you must be so proud. Getting invited is the first step and I am sure you are aware of that if this isn't her first YNT camp. Good luck to her!

I see that there are 5 SoCal players on the initial list so congrats. I also want to mention that the college coaches attend training sessions too. My player has run into one of her college coaches on more than one occasion at these camps and some of the times it was overseas. There will be more than just national team and parent eyes on these players.

Thank you! This is her first call up to camp, so we are learning as we go. I know when she went to inter regionals in Florida, she said there were cc's lining the sidelines at the games. She thought is was amazing then. Right now, she is focused on choosing the right high school ;) im sure the rest will come, when the time is right =)

Yeah it is insane that kids that have yet to start high school have coaches watching already but the scarcity of elite talent is part of the reason. These coaches jobs are on the line and a few outstanding players can make a significant difference on a team. You seem to have the right perspective and will guide your player and keep her grounded so I commend you, Good luck again to her and congrats to you!

I bet that she loved it when that package full of Nike gear arrived....

I would add, any of the college coaches who are also US Soccer scout/coaches have access to the youth national team player evaluations.

Congrats to your DD. Looks like she has the golden ticket to write whatever school she wants to attend. She has a player resume any college coach will open and read!

Congratulations to the talented five selected from So Cal! Many talented girls didn't get the invite this time, maybe next time, keep working hard!
