Pats and Strikers Pre Academy parents

someone’s feelings are hurt.LOL!! I don’t have a kid on this team just happen to know the division...what’s douchebaggy about listing a team’s resume....as far as me not having a life you’re asking for feedback in a chat room.LOL!!! Keep your kid at AYSO to get a participation trophy every year with a cool parents tunnel...if you want to know who’s developing better players between the 2 clubs...it’s Strikers...and it’s not that close..I can say with confidence that Pats doesn’t have anyone comparable to R Chingirian or the newly added Willie Diaz...Stay Classy LAOC LOL!!!
I would ask how the friendly went today but you don’t have a kid on the team, right?

If you're looking for a good Pre Academy team then Strikers Irvine always delivers at the younger age groups. Pats at the younger ages are distributed across multiple cities/areas. At the DA level, you'll start to see kids from Pats LA, NM, MV, Irvine etc come together to join the team.

Any parents with kids on either Pre Academy team (Pats or Strikers) have feedback about the club/team? We moved to OC from LA and would like to tryout next season.

Contact Coach Omar Masri He is the coach of the Pats Irvine black 08. They are playing tier 1 this year. They were a new team last year. Dominated tier 2. Omar knows how to coach. ALL the parents and kids get along like family. Great atmosphere and they play great soccer.

I've had kids on both clubs (non Academy teams). Both are good but focus on the coach more than on their current winning status.

I've pushed my kids to top flight teams where they didn't get enough playing time and it backfired on me.

TBH a 2008 age team can change so much between now and a few years later. Find a team where your kid can connect with the rest of the players and enjoys his coach.

Thanks for the response! I believe Strikers has affiliates across multiple cities /regions as well, that's the thing that worries me about Pats. Both clubs have affiliate clubs in same regions but for some reason Strikers always has strong younger clubs and Pats never does.

Geographically they cover the same area but Strikers is known for having rock solid younger teams, IMO that has to be good coaching and recruiting.

That was the whole point of my post. At the Younger ages (below U-14) Strikers seems to dominate Pats for whatever reasons (recruiting, coaching, luck? idk) but now with the new Tiered DA system that will most likely trickle down to U-14 I'm curious how this effects the two clubs moving forward. Pats have an almost fully funded academy/ Pre academy and I believe Strikers Pre academy still pays full club fees. The '08 age group in always in limbo!

I think the big difference is that Strikers affiliates are just that, affiliates and not really part of the same corporate structure. You pay the affiliate and most people know this and end up going straight to Irvine to hopefully make the DA team. One of the recent DA coaches came from their Mission Viejo chapter but for the most part it seems like Strikers Irvine has had the stronger teams for the last 7 years.

When my son was looking for a club team to join we looked at the coach and not really the club. As he got into the DA age and thought maybe that was a path he wanted to partake in then we started to look at the DA teams. We ended up watching both academies play. We went to their younger DA teams and watched a game and then ended up going to their older teams games. We looked at playing styles and coaching styles. We spoke to parents about what they liked and disliked. We ended up choosing what we felt was the best option for him.

We are a normal size team IMO but playing up this year is much different from playing up last year. This year the 07 boys seem a lot bigger than last , probably a puberty thing....Mexico team was big and so was Real. Honestly , we have a great team with great kids and great parents, we do a lot together outside of soccer too.
A fun environment and thats important for this age too, trust me we train like the best of them and the boys all are very serious when coach educates them on all aspects of soccer and life too.....for my sons development, Im glad he's part of this team.
Is this team playing up again this year? What league?

I think a lot of clubs toss around the term "Pre Academy" as a marketing ploy. I do believe the Strikers '08 Pre Academy is for real and not a marketing ploy. I don't believe the Pats have a "real" Pre Academy because they just don't seem to have any quality teams in the '08 group.

Edit: a quick look at rankings and the Strikers actually play up in age sometimes as well

Pats does have a True Pre-Academy team, they restructured it to play in the NPL west, Unfortunately they assembled the team in May and didn't play any games until league and Had a tough go. All Pats Pre academy teams are now called DA2 and play in the NPL west, just to clarify.
