New CRL Academy Program

Did you guys see this announcement: https://www.californiaregionalleague.com/en/news/detail/254-id.209718028.html? I don't really understand why they're doing this for the 2007s since they're not in the DA program. I have lots of quesitons...

Will they have two separate CRL leagues for the 2007s? Dividing the accepted CRL teams based upon this announcement, we have these teams in the new CRL Academy Program:
  • Girls 2007/13U SD Surf Academy Girls Select 2007 CRL
  • Girls 2007/13U Legends FC G07 Pre-Academy CRL
  • Girls 2007/13U LAGSB 2007 Pre-Academy CRL
  • Girls 2007/13U Legends FC G07 Pre-Academy II CRL
  • Girls 2007/13U Beach FC LB G07 R. Perez CRL Play-In
  • Girls 2007/13U LAGSD G07 Pre Academy Walker CRL Play-In
  • Girls 2007/13U LA Galaxy OC - G2007 W2 CRL Play-In
And these teams in the regular CRL:
  • Girls 2007/13U Slammers FC G07 PA/CB CRL
  • Girls 2007/13U So Cal Blues- 2007 Baker CRL
  • Girls 2007/13U FFSC G07 AW CRL Play-In
  • Girls 2007/13U SD Force FC G2007 J Ocampo CRL Play-In
  • Girls 2007/13U San Diego SC G2007 Academy Navy CRL Play-In
  • Girls 2007/13U So Cal Blues - 2007 Holley CRL Play-In
  • Girls 2007/13U Albion SC G07 Academy Whittaker CRL Play-In
  • Girls 2007/13U So Cal Academy G2007 Hazell CRL Play-In
  • Girls 2007/13U Empire SC G07 CRL Play-In
  • Girls 2007/13U Legends FC G07 SGV CRL Play-In (I wonder if Legends SGV is considered part of Legends for this program or not?)
Two of the eight CRL Academy clubs do not have accepted teams in the GU13 CRL--Real SoCal and Pateadores. Will they add these teams to the GU13 CRL Academy this season?

Will the teams in the two groups play each other this season or at the end of the season?

Galaxy OC do not have DA so how does it work that they are in the "Academy Program". Also they lost all three of their play-in games..........

I think you are missing the point of this new closed league and all the others. Even if your team loses all three of their play in games and suck a**, we will squeeze your team into a "special" closed league so nobody else (read parents of players on the team) know how bad the team sucks for what they pay to the club. Every one of the these "top" flights has to do with money or preserving the income stream.

Notice how many top flights there are now.
ECNL
DA
ECNL
DPL
Academy CRL
Premier
Discovery
Flight 1 Champions
Flight 1 Europa

What does this say about the collective intelligence of the parents getting sucked into writing the checks? What does it say about the self esteem of the parents and their kids? I hear from so many parents that their kid is flight 1. It makes them feel good to say it, almost like they believe it. You know that trickles down to their kids too. So unhealthy that we can no longer just tell a kid that they are not good enough to play flight 1

Big time lurker here but thought Id share what I know...
Spoke to families from some 07 DPL teams and they did not need to do play in...automatically qualified for this CRL Academy bracket.
1. LAGSD Walker(play in team was his second team)
2. Real SoCal
3. OC Surf Hernandez
4. Pataedores
5. Beach Hodson
Additional teams I’m assuming in this academy bracket that qualified from 2018 CRL:
6. SD Surf DPL
7. Legends DPL
8. LAGSB

I heard Blues is not doing CRL, not sure about Slammers.
Team bracket:
1. ? Legends II
2. Beach Perez
3. LAGSD II
4. FFSC
5. SoCal Academy/LA Surf Hazell
6. Empire
7. Legends SGV
8. Albion Whittaker
9. Blues Holley
10. San Diego Nagy
11. LAG OC
12. SD Force

From CRL director- the top 2 teams from each bracket will go into playoffs to determine the winner.
Albion is the only DA club not in this CRL Academy and they qualified through play-in.

What doesn’t make sense to me is separating the DPL teams in CRL when they will be playing each other in DPL league.

I just saw the CRL Academy brackets are also posted, and I have a few questions. (I’m new here and new to CRL, so I’m curious about some of these things that don’t seem to jive with what I had previously been told about CRL and what I’ve read on the CRL website. Y’all seem to know or be able to find out what is going on, so I thought I’d ask! )

Why is there no Pateadores in CRL Academy? (That club was listed in the press release and appears to have teams in other age groups for CRL Academy.)

Why isn’t Albion one of the included academy clubs?

Is the LAGSD team in the regular CRL bracket (Team ID 0214-15CG07-0010) the same team that qualified in the play-in tournament (Team ID 0214-15CG07-9368)? (If so, why did the team ID change? The team IDs listed for other teams that qualified via play-in seem to match those of the ones on the current schedule.)

There wasn’t an LAGSB team in the play-in tournament. How is there a LAGSB team in the regular CRL bracket?

Legends pre-academy II Kooiman wasn’t in play-in. How do they fit in to this regular CRL bracket?

The answer lies within the following:

From the CRL announcement..."The inaugural Girls Academy Program will include eight charter Girls clubs for the 2019-2020 Season in age groups 13U through 18U/19U."

Which means a private internal selection process, which ultimately means... Politics!

How is it that Albion isn’t playing in the Academy division? What’s the story there?
Good win for Legends today over LAGSB.

Wait a minute. The best team on the planet got beat?
I must stay out of everything for fear that some random person will come in and tell me everything about me, who I am and what I believe so instead I will sit here quietly, not give props where props are due and be a lurker. So my answer is......San Dimas High School Football Rules!!!
