What do you like about your kid's coach?

Sparky9

SILVER ELITE
In talking with a parent of a new kid on our team, I realized one of the good qualities our coach has is that he has a "reset" button. He doesn't carry over emotions from the last game into practice or the next game.

More importantly, every game he gives the players a "reset" where if they struggled in the last game and play better in the next one, they get more playing time. If one of our top players are playing poorly or selfishly, they won't play the entire game. It creates a good atmosphere that rewards effort and teamwork.
Something subtle our coach does that I really like. How bout you?

I like when she talks out of the side of her mouth like a bad ventriloquist. It is particularly funny when she spits on people standing next to her, even though she is speaking to somebody directly in front of her.

Tell us how you really feel. :D

Our coach practices what he preaches. Possession soccer, keep the ball on the ground. Play out of the back. Play back to the keeper. We do it in practice. We do it in games.

Since this thread is for what we like about our current coach, that was the nicest thing I could think of. Haha. The unintentional humor is by far her best trait, both as a coach and as a human being....Now if it were a thread for what we dislike, I am sure I could think of quite a few things to say.

our G08 team is coached the same way. what i really like is the paramilitary style our coach has during practices. they screw around in the slightest and they're running laps. it gets the girls to really dial in and focus. during games, he says very little (unlike a prior whiny, soul-sucking, morale killer coach that would scream ad nauseam) and they are largely on autopilot.

Not my kids coach but we had the chance to play Craig Bulls 05 Slammers ECNL 2 team and they played the way we hope to play eventually. Aggressive without being dirty, possession based, but with a purpose. Our team still goes sideways or backwards a bit more than forward, and hopefully our girls learned something from the friendly. Still have a ways to go in our soccer journey. My kid at keeper had the chance to be involved almost the whole game with pass backs from her team and many shots faced. Glad to have had the opportunity to play them.

I suppose to be about YOUR kid coach - not someone else's kid coach ;)
