Summer Camps - Thoughts welcome

Summer camps in So Cal. Daughter is a keeper, but doesn't want a keeper camp as she wants to go with a couple of her teammates that are field players. Anyone go to the Cal South PRO+ ODP Co-ed Finishing & Goalkeeping Academy? They stay four nights at the The Thacher School in Ojai.

She wants an overnight experience with some friends while getting some reps and learning some.

SoccerPlus is the best. My dd is a keeper and has attended the performance level (at age 13) and NTC (National Training Center age 14 and 15) level which is top notch. Great training, really challenging physically so best for players who want to train for high level play, not just have fun with a little soccer. It is for keepers and field players so your dd would have the benefit of the best GK training with interaction with field players. There is only one camp in Socal which is at UC Riverside. https://www.soccerplus.org/schedules/

BTW, you didn't mention your player's age. My dd did the ODP camp in Ojai when she was 12. Hated it. Great food, nice place (except the rooms are small and dingy and the room mom was "mean and controlling"). We found that the whole ODP process is political and the skill level of the players are hit or miss. If she and her teammates are serious about soccer, want the best training, and a really fun experience, then Soccerplus is the best. The only downfall is that most of the Soccerplus training is on the Eastcoast, which makes the UC Riverside camp really popular but is the only scheduling option this summer (June 23-27). We actually went to the New York training last summer at Colgate University - so if your dd ends up going and liking it and has aspirations for playing college (especially east coast) then she should really consider going to one of the East Coast camps at some point in her training. Plus, my DD still gets together with other players she met at the camps from all over the country when they meet up for tournaments like Surf Cup, national ECNL showcases and even college ID camps. Now that they are all committing to colleges, it is great seeing where their training has taken them as they achieve their soccer dreams. :)

If ODP scares you off there is One Soccer School, also at the Thatcher school, but earlier in the summer. It's primarily geared towards field players (with conditioning, yoga, speed drills), but they have goalkeeping too. My son learned to extension dive for the first time there

It's not as intense as Soccer Plus because the kids still get a little bit of down time (in the rec room, TV room watching important games [last year the world up] or in the swimming pool). Nevertheless, it is an intense experience and packed with training sessions geared towards club (not rec) players almost round the clock. The staff is great and really laid back (I think my son has a video review somewhere on his youtube channel if you are interested....think search kid goalkeeper one soccer school review). Particularly if your keeper is on the younger side and not ready for Soccer Plus, but is ready for more than just a soccer fun camp, One is a great option.

She is an 05, thus would be in the older group at the ODP camp. SoccerPlus looks like a good option since UCR is close to our homes.

B08 - any other camp ideas than the above three mentioned? I looked into these and two are only offered in the very beginning of the summer (and I am not sending him across country just yet). He's pretty die-hard but not sure he would want to do overnighters, especially if he doesn't have friends going with him. We are in Orange County. Has anyone had any good experience with UCI or IVC or any other local colleges?

Terrific camp for both field players and GK's, I sent both my kids in their early years (U13-U14), both field player's and both wanted to go the following year as well. They met a lot of players from other teams, they played a few over their last few years of playing club, the oldest played against one of the ODP coaches teams in the finals in HS, both had a great time at the camp, keep in mind, it gets really hot there....they still talk about how good the yogurt was from the yogurt machine :D
