2019 State Cup Presidents Younger's Rescheduling Issues

Shall we also talk about sandbaggers here? Or create a new thread?
Does Cal-South even look at their chart when placing teams?

I have one kid in DA and one that's not. Over the years this about sums it up their opinions:

Things they like about State Cup
- If the team had a pretty good season, then they look forward to seeing how far they can get and maybe even challenge for the Cup (btw, the farthest my kids ever made it was the quarterfinals, the majority were round of 32 exits).
- They liked playing out of area teams instead of the same super club teams and affiliates ad-nauseam.
- They sometimes enjoyed staying in a hotel and causing a ruckus with their teammates.

Things they didn't like about State Cup
- The long drives to Lancaster & Apple Valley locations
- The insane wind conditions that often occurred at the Lancaster & Apple Valley locations. It wasn't soccer, it was playing kickball in a wind tunnel.
- If the team had a mediocre or poor season, State Cup just feels pointless.

Basically if they had a good year, they were generally more hyped for State/National Cup. But if they had a poor season or there was a lot of drama, then they rather just be done with the season.

Personally I think with almost all the clubs moving their try-outs to January/December, State Cup has become on the average a more unpleasant experience for everybody. Kids who were dropped from the team either feel humiliated playing in State Cup or they just quit altogether. Kids who are moving to a new club sometimes just go through the motions or just stop showing up to practices. You got parents who are still sore/bitter about their kid not moving up. You got coaches who may be going through the motions if they're changing teams or have one foot out the door.

Perhaps State Cup should start at the beginning of December. Break for the holidays and then continue into January for the latter rounds. This way the majority of the lower teams can finish out their seasons in December and only those gunning for a title are playing into January. And the majority of the teams can avoid having try-outs blow up their team before/during State Cup.
