G2010 Who comes out on top?

No clue about the turf at SL, but I doubt 2010s would get those fields.

Oh and regarding the semifinal matchups, the winner of SDSC/OC Surf plays the winner of Eagles/SD Surf, and the winner of Blues/Slammers plays the winner of Legends/LAGOC.

We will see the following weekend who is better between Blues Rennie and cda slammers. Bummer all game were canceled this weekend.
Yes, the kids are bummed about the wait. We will also see who is better between Eagles vs SD Surf. Eagles has the nod and yes SD has improved this year with some new additions. I cheer for all the girls, good luck and have fun.

Blues , Slammers, Eagles, and Surf have been at the top since 2004 when my DD was GU9 and playing State Cup.

With the semifinal match-ups now decided, no real surprises popped up, which is too bad but expected I guess. It looks like two of the three teams I felt were currently tops in socal for girls at this age will be playing in the final. Here are my thoughts on the semis ...

Blues v Legends - Blues

Blues technically had the easier road to the final by finishing second in the group stage, but they still had to get through a very good Slammers team, which they did. As I said earlier, don't read too much into the game vs SDSC. When winning matters, RR and his Blues teams play to win. Blues handles Legends easily and moves on.

SDSC v Eagles - SDSC

You could probably just flip a coin here. Seriously. Both teams match up extremely well and are wonderful to watch play each other. This might be the best game of the tournament. SDSC beat Eagles in their last two meetings (Surf Cup final and Blues Cup semi) but I hear Eagles added a couple of girls this fall which could tip the balance. This game will likely boil down to which team improved more over the fall and which team makes the least mistakes. I'm giving the nod to SDSC just based on the last two meetings, but this will be close. 3-2 or even PKs. Either way this one should be a lot of fun.

Best of luck to all the kids still competing next weekend (weather permitting).

Yes very fun weekend to watch SDSC really looks like the team to beat. Absolutely fun to watch and have dominated every single game. I think they beat eagles in a hard fought and close match. Blues definitely handled slammers which was a bit surprising to me. And legends dominated from start to finish against galaxy. I think the legends blues game may be an interesting one to watch. Their coach has the #4 ranked 01 team and that came out of nowhere in riverside. I believe this is his first year with the youngers and again he took this legends team out of nowhere and now they are in the semis. He’s very calm and the girls seem to have learned a lot and play a good style of soccer. Regardless of what happens I think that legends team will be a team to watch the upcoming years if they stick together and that coach stays with them. Good luck to all girls and all teams and hopefully this rain doesn’t cancel all games again

Yes SDSC looks like the team to beat at the moment, they have really improved throughout the year. SDSC/Eagles game should be pretty epic, can't wait!

Unfortunately we gotta wait another weekend.

Eagles vs SDSC didn't disappoint as expected. Chances on both sides but it went 0 to 0 through double OT. Eagles went up 2 to 0 on PKs and SDSC clawed back to win 3-2 on PKs.

Blues vs SDSC in the final tomorrow.

CONGRATULATIONS to SC Blues G2010 for the hard-fought win! After keeping a 1-0 lead (literally) to the last few seconds, SDSC sunk one in for the tie. Both teams battled hard during OT and it all came down to penalties. Both sides fought hard and it could have been anyone’s game. At the end, we are very proud of all the girls - they will see each other in the finals often!

Yep, congrats to Blues! It was an epic game. SDSC pulled their keeper up into the box for the final corner of the game, and was the player who knocked it in to tie it in the dying seconds. After a stalemate in OT it went to kicks from the spot, and it was close but it went Blues' way in the end. All the girls should hold their heads high.

Congrats to both teams! Blues scored in bout 10th minute mostly dominating the first half. Teams played fairly even in the 2nd half, blues RR never subbed his 4 players the entire game or OT so they may have tired out and gave up an extremely late goal to sdsc that was well earned. OT was close and blues ended up winning in pks.

Job well done for both teams! Going to compete for the next few years.

Taking back the 'mostly dominating the 1st half'' from above. It was close all game, edge to blues 1st half and SDSC 2nd half. Either way it was an amazing game, with great play from both teams! Many more to come......

I was going to challenge you on your first half comment, but you self-redacted it. :):):)

Yes, it was great play on both sides and a fun game to watch. Kudos to the Blues keeper, who made two top corner saves (one getting pushed onto the crossbar if I recall) that most keepers at this age don't make. The extra attention she received in the awards ceremony was well deserved. Enjoy the break! Looking forward to next season.
