League Play 06

Thanks for info.

Been looking forward to playing Blues since the schedule was released :D
Seems like DPL has more of the top teams than ECNL for the '06 girls. Too bad the clubs couldn't find a way for all the top teams to play in the same league again this year. Blues got some good games a few weekends ago by playing up in u14 at an ECNL showcase in Davis. Not sure having league games with mostly 3+ goal differential helps with development. What are you guys going to do with the 4 month break in league from November-February?

Does ECNL 06 play in National Cup?

I agree 100% on your points regarding ECNL, DPL, and the blowout scores.

As a team we're doing Silverlakes Thanksgiving and Vegas Cup. That's only 2 weekends though. What's Blues doing?

Only thing currently on the schedule is one local tournament in December (OC tournament of champions). Time off is good, but that's a long stretch.

LAFC 4-0 Arsenal

Our girls scrapped with them and kept it 0-1 at half and then LAFC turned it up and my kid had her hands full in goal. Could have been A LOT worse.

Tip my hat to Andy Winn who was on site after the game concluded and asked about my kid as she was carted off after the game. He has always gone out of his way to ask about my kids and their well being with no agenda.

Hope your daughter is ok. “Carted off” is something you never want to hear about a player.

She was all over the place on Sunday, a ton of diving saves. She's had her hands full the past 6 months and I think it caught up with her. Dove to her left to make a parry save, got back up quickly to recover as the ball was still in play. Saw her grimace but she immediately shuffled to cut off the angle.

Remaining 10-15 minutes she was rolling her ankle and shaking out her knee as played continued. Looked like it was a rough bump and based on her movement and play the rest of the way I assumed she was fine.

After the final whistle she jogged off and took a seat under the canopy. A few minutes later I was called over as her knee swelled up on the left side of the knee cap about the size of golf ball. She was a bit shaken up and I had to talk her down as I assessed the situation and called the trainer over.

Assessment on the field ended up being the same one we received at the ER, no bone break or tears. Looks like prepatellar bursae was inflamed with the impact to the side of the knee after landing on her hip and side. The impact causes the bursae to be filled with fluid / blood and cause tenderness and pain.

She was given a knee stabilizer and crutches for the 1st week to expedite the swelling going down. Some Ibuprofen, steady dose of ice, leg elevated, and rest. Follow up is on Friday where she will attempt to bear her weight down and determine what additional actions are required, if any. If swelling didn't go down, knee would be drained. But swelling went down entirely after 1st day. Best case scenario is impact caused severe swelling and pain and 3-4 weeks of rest and a slow road back will have her back to normal after the holidays. Worst case scenario would be to revisit looking for tears.

She's been in good spirits and the minimal movement she happens to do with the knee have been no pain / discomfort. She's been long overdue for some rest and it's been a pleasure having down time with her to enjoy a "non-soccer" life. As much as the sport has taken over our lives, not having it would give me my daughter back in a way that's just as enjoyable, if not more so.

Stay safe out there everyone and thank you for reaching out via text / phone.

Wow. That’s rough. Happy to hear she is in good spirits. Best wishes on coming back strong! I know what you mean about the non-soccer life...Ours was out for a week at Science Camp - no club or private’s for us to chauffeur her to for a week....my wife and I had a date on a Tuesday....what???? That never happens during a “normal” week.
