How's your girl's 09 season going?

Creating a new thread so that we can move discussions off of the roll call thread (and keep that thread dedicated for roll call). Any friendly discussion on how your girl's 09 season going is welcome here.

@Tim Powell ,

(from the Eagles) Great game , your girls fought hard, your keeper played very well. Please cut that grass, wow that field was in terrible condition!!!. Your team has improved a lot over last year. Good luck to your girls this season.

The conditions of the field have a big impact on the level of play, particularly at this young age. We have come across some beautiful fields (which suit our girls fast paced style) and some jungle style fields that are more of an advantage to physical teams.
That said, how much control over public fields can a team have?

With the amount of money we all pay for Club Soccer I am pretty sure something can be worked out, if anything just cut the grass down a bit, some of the fields seem like the kids are running through a corn field lol.

For Silver south Team USA back on track with a 6-2 win vs Brea and a somewhat surprising 1-1 tie between the 2 BYSC.
Eagles back to dominate on Silver North. Juggle the world their main competitors?

Yeah, a lot of clicking around and SCDSL pages take a while to refresh. Not a whole lot of surprises in flight 1. Top teams taking care of business. Been fun playing some of the new flight 1 teams this year and they have been doing relatively well (Beach, Real So Cal, Slammers MF, SC Blues Vaught). A few teams in south flight 1 had been relying on guest players over the summer...so will be interesting to see how they fare during the course of the regular fall league.

Are you able to see the scores for 09 SCDSL games? I can't seem to find any scores under schedules, standings, etc. I would like to see how other teams are doing.

It's a pain, as you have to do it by team rather than the overall schedule, but it's possible. Go to the Club Directory, select the club for the team you're looking for then select the team. Then you can click the "vs" link for the games and see the match report if it's available.

Just viewed scores & saw Eagles won their 2nd game 7-0, so there’s that. :)

They beat up a team that placed 3rd in coast last year.

Impressive??

My daughters team lost to them 3x in a row but as soon as our coach game planned for their little foward who murdered us each game they don't have anyone else who can score.

Your coach prepared a specific game plan for one player? Interesting...
Did it work out?

Both 09 teams from our OC Surf Anaheim club were flight 3 teams last year, so moving up to flight 2, was a little scary, wondering if they could compete at a higher level. Both teams are doing very well and found flight 2 is a very good fit for this year. There has only been one team I have seen that seems to be bracketed incorrectly. The Slammers LB team seems to be beating solid flight 2 teams soundly.Curious why they didn't go flight one. I think they will roll through their flight 2 reg. season.

Probably due to the fact that Slammers FC already has three teams already in flight 1 (PA, AA, MF). Flight 2 is a weird middle ground where you'll find a few teams that should be flight 1 and a few that should be flight 3. Kudos to your club for challenging your teams and moving them up to flight 2.

How are those 09 Slammers FC teams ranked in order of... “who’s stronger”? I see they have 6 of them!
AA
LB
LN
DM
MF
PA

Games to follow this week in the CSL Silver brackets:

Eagles vs Juggle the World in the North. Eagles, the heavy favorite in this bracket against their main competitors.

AVS vs BYSC in the south. Corona, one of the pre-season favorites have had a slow start and must win against a strong AV team in order to reduce the distance from the top of the table.

Good luck!
