04s - Games of the Week

No need to be defensive as it seems you belong to Eagles and it doesn't matter which opposing team that I belong to. If you do belong to Eagles, it is just an insight and could be an unsolicited one but shouldn't these views be an eye opener for Eagles and your coaching team that you're not able to beat a last place team on the Gold bracket? I think that says a lot about not being consistent. I agree that there are lots of talented players in your team, your fast right forward, a very relentless center forward plus a great goalkeeper and a very strong defensive wall but I guess instead of sounding a bit defensive in here why not concentrate on how to win your remaining games especially the ones with LAGSD? Maybe work on redeeming yourselves over that 2-0 loss vs LAGSD at Man City Cup to prove me wrong?
Not even from their team, but yes all these players are good, and the midfieldiers are good, so basically every player is good! I just feel like your attack on them was unnecessary. Even the best professional teams don't win every single game, and who knows, it might have just been a bad day for them, but you can't just jump to conclusions over one game. I don't think they need to prove anything to you, I mean who even are you?

Who cares? Everyone is entitled to their opinion.
I love how everyone always brings up "even professional teams lose". Uh they are 12.
Pretty much the only team that is consistent is one of them.
The reason this forum is dead is because of people being sensitive. It was not an "attack" and people don't need to announce their identity.

The game between Eagles and BYSC Corona United was one exciting game thru out. Corona United scored the first goal with an outside of the penalty box free kick but even though that happened Eagles did not panic and scored an equalizer before the end of the 1st half. Eagles were relentless with their attempts from right, center and left but the Corona United goalie was great that day or extremely lucky. Eagles goalie played well too with a block on a penalty that was given for a flop against the Eagles. I guess both teams brought their A game that day and regardless if Corona United was last place they fought well with thir offense. In the end, I would say this is a wake up call for the Eagles coaching that unless he organize his forwards to play the ball and pass the ball around then the fight against LA Galaxy SD will be a futile one so to speak. Eagles forwards are great bunch of girls specially the center and right but unless the coach brings them together, they have a tough fight ahead of them.

I agree that we all take this too seriously and it might've not been an "attack", but I just don't feel that picking on the team, which consists of 12 YEAR OLDS, was a good approach from him. These are just young girls, so criticizing them so strongly seems uncalled for. Its almost as if he had something against the team from his first comments..

Ok, that was a much better post than your original one. The Eagles coach, recruits athletes (big girls, fast girls, tough girls) and likes to win with that. It does seem kind of lazy but it works really well for them. They are not a pass the ball around the field type of team and I think this does them a disservice in the long run. The backline passes the ball really well, but the rest of the team for the most part tries to knock the ball down the field and hope that the speedy (and I mean speedy) right wing or the tenacious (and I mean tenacious) center forward can win the ball and go straight to goal. I know on Saturday (vs Fullerton Rangers White) they were missing one of their really good center fullbacks (not sure if she was there on Sunday).

I really like their G05 team though.

I agree. I noticed many great assists and passes from the midfielders, but the forwards didn't play the ball after that. It's just a run and shot, and it doesn't always work for them. Although they have plenty of speed up top, other, more technical players played a critical part in the scoring opportunities. They rely on some big strong girls on their team, but that won't always cut it for them.

Has anyone thought to say great job to BYSC on their weekend? 1-0 defeat to Galaxy and pulling off a tie against the Eagles what a great weekend for the girls.

I would agree with you, BYSC played well this weekend. Don't count them out and they could still give every team a run for their money. I say keep fighting BYSC, you fought well against 2 of the top teams in your bracket. Way to go!

It always doesn't work that way. To rely on single players to win for the team. Soccer is a team sports and they need everybody on the field to win. Regardless if they have everybody there that weekend, it just goes to show what will happen on future games with the Eagles, rely on "recruits" and pray that they score goals and win for the team. Unless they have a different game plan for the LA Galaxy SD then better say goodbye to the championship.

As for liking the G05, They also have a forum for them. :)

CAS G04 Games Of The Week (10/22,23)

Coast Soccer League

Gold

10/22
Breakers Black (3-6-1, Rank #34) vs LA Galaxy SD Elite (8-0-0, Rank #7)
While everyone awaits the 11/12 and 11/19 matchups between LA Galaxy SD and Eagles, both teams have to keep their focus on the games at hand. LA Galaxy gets the Breakers Black who have got two of their three CSL wins against Albion and lost to LA Galaxy SD 5-0 the last time they played. LA Galaxy SD have only allowed 2 goals in league play, having stringed together five consecutive shutouts. Teams have narrowed the gap of late as they have won their last three games by close 1-0 scores.
Prediction: LA Galaxy SD Elite Wins 2-0

Silver Elite

10/22
Santa Monica United (5-0-1, Rank #51) vs Simi Valley Eclipse (6-0-3, Rank #71)
Simi Valley Eclipse may sit atop the Silver Elite North division but they have three games in hand over Santa Monica United. A win by Santa Monica puts them well ahead and in the drivers seat. A Simi Valley win will put the race between Simi Valley, Fram and Santa Monica in a free for all. With promotion to Gold on the line, this should be a battle. I'm just not confident that Simi Valley Eclipse is a Gold level team for next year as they have lost to Silver teams in tournament play.
Prediction: Santa Monica United Wins 2-1

10/22
OC Premier Orange (5-2-1, Rank #55) vs Coachella Valley Desert Storm (3-5-1, Rank #57)
This is a huge game for OC Premier Orange as they for the most part locked in a three way tie for first place in the Silver Elite South division. Coachella was able to squeak out a close win at home the last time these two teams played, but this weekends contest moves to the OC where sea breezes and greenery abound.
Prediction: Tie 1-1

Silver

10/22
Kickers SC (7-1-1, Rank #54) vs Eagles White (6-1-1, Rank #90)
A huge game for two good Silver teams, both looking to finish in the top two in the standings and get promoted to Silver Elite next season. Kickers have been the hotter of the two teams, outscoring opponents 20-1 in the last four games, including a big 1-0 win over previously undefeated Oxnard United. The last time these two teams faced each other they battled to a 0-0 tie. Eagles White has been battered by injuries and had their best player rostered up to the A team, but the girls have stepped up and risen to the occasion. Eagles White controls their own destiny, Kickers still needs some help. A tie probably gives the league title to Oxnard United.
Prediction: Kickers Wins 1-0

NHB Black (8-1-0, Rank #32) vs Celtic Harps (5-3-1, Rank #170)
NHB Black was ripping through the Silver South division when they got tripped up by IE Surf Lara two games ago. What had been a dominate league season may now end up with a second place finish. The Celtic Harps likely won't be in this game for very long.
Prediction: NHB Black Wins 5-0

10/23
Futbol Foundation (8-1-0, Rank #67) vs LA Galaxy CVU Blue (5-4-0, Rank #100)
Both teams started out 5-0 and have gone in different directions since. Thre free fall for LA Galaxy CVU will continue for another couple of weeks as they have SC Antelope in their next game. For Futbol Foundation this is a must win as they need to keep any blemishes off their record until they have their rematch against SC Antelope.
Prediction: Futbol Foundation Wins 3-1

Bronze Beta
10/22
FC Camarillo AC (6-3-1, Rank #NA) vs Thousand Oaks FC AC (7-1-2, Rank #168)
There is a bit of a logjam atop the Bronze Beta standings. These two AYSO Challenge teams know each other well. Thousand Oaks finds themselves in second place, four points ahead of the fourth place Camarillo team. An upset win this week could propel Camarillo into promotion territory as they will be heavy favorites to win the last three games on their schedule. A win by Thousand Oaks will knock Camarillo out of contention and allow them to stay within one win of first place.
Prediction: Thousand Oaks FC AC Wins 2-1

Bronze Central
10/22
La Mirada FC (8-0-0, Rank #98) vs BYSC Corona United White (7-1-1, Rank #157)
La Mirada is one of the handful of teams in CSL still with a perfect record. They are four points ahead of BYSC Corona White and can pretty much wrap up the league title with a win or tie. BYSC Corona has a Canyon team breathing down their neck waiting for any slip ups as those two teams play each other in the league finale.
Prediction: La Mirada Wins 2-0

Bronze Delta
10/22
Apple Valley Storm (7-0-1, Rank #130) vs HDYSL Rage FC (7-1-0, Rank #149)
It is pretty certain that these two teams will finish one-two in Bronze Delta. The only question remains, who will be one and who will be two? Apple Valley did win their previous matchup 2-1 and will be playing at home this time. An Apple Valley win or tie pretty much gives them the title. HDYSL Rage still has one tough game against Rialto Fire left on their schedule.
Prediction: Apple Valley Storm Wins 1-0

Bronze East
10/22
Celtic St. Patrick (9-0-1, Rank #104) vs YASC Spartans FC Black (6-1-3, Rank #144)
Celtic St. Patrick has a pretty firm grip on first place in the Bronze East. This game is more about will YASC Spartans Black have a shot at second place. Celtic has scored 50 goals and given up only 1 in league play!
Prediction: Celtic St. Patrick Wins 2-0

Bronze Gamma
10/23
Barcelona California Red (7-1-0, Rank #186) vs FC North Valley AC (8-0-0, Rank #196)
It has been utter domination by FC North Valley AC in the Bronze Gamma league so far. The FC North Valley AYSO Challenge team didn't play any summer tournaments so they don't have much of a track record other than beating up Bronze level teams in league play.
Prediction: Tie 1-1

Bronze South
10/22
Pacific SC Los Alamitos (6-2-2, Rank #138) vs MVSC Legacy (5-3-2, Rank #124)
First place in the Bronze South will belong to Albion SC OC White, but second place is still up for grabs.
Prediction: Tie 2-2

Bronze West
10/22
South Bay United (7-1-0, Rank #126) vs Fram Taylor (7-1-1, Rank #183)
An important game for both teams. The winner takes sole possession of first place and the loser likely having FC England right on their backs for second place. This is one of those games that may end up a tie as neither team can really afford a loss. South Bay United was undefeated but had a terrible 4-1 loss to FC England last week. But South Bay United did beat Fram 5-1 earlier in the season, so throw logic and previous results out the window.
Prediction: South Bay United Wins 2-1

Presidio-AAA
10/22
PYSL Blast SC-Evenson (6-1-1, Rank #136) vs AYSO Matrix Bonita (6-1-1, Rank #72)
Both teams are in the thick of it for the Presidio AAA title. There are five teams all bunched near the top of the standings. This game will hopefully thin the contenders out a little.
Prediction: AYSO Matrix Bonita Wins 3-2

SDDA Flight 1
10/22
DMCV Sharks Toumi (4-1-2, Rank #11) vs Rebels Gold (4-0-3, Rank #15)
Both teams are looking up at Notts Forest Red. The Rebels can actually catch Notts Forest with a win this weekend but it won't be easy against DMCV Sharks Toumi who continue to surprise some people with their good results.
Prediction: DMCV Sharks Toumi Wins 1-0

SCSDL Flight 1 Fall Showcase

Some amazing games at the SCSDL Fall Showcase pitting many of the top Flight 1 teams against each other this weekend.

10/22

Arsenal FC Pre ECNL Brown (6-1-1, Rank #5) vs SD Surf EGSL Academy (7-0-1, Rank #1)
The best of the East (Arsenal) against the best of the South (SD Surf) square off against each other in this game of two top five ranked teams. Can you really pick against SD Surf EGSL Academy in any game?
Prediction: SD Surf EGSL Academy Wins 1-0

So Cal Blues Dido (4-1-3, Rank #10) vs CDA Slammers FC Cerritos Macias (6-1-1, Rank #2)
Blues Dido is the master of the low scoring defensive battles, in eight games they have scored 12 goals and given up 6. Slammers Macias on the other hand has scored 22 goals. The game will likely come down to can the Blues Dido defense hold up against the Slammers Macias onslaught and can Slammers protect against the counter attack.
Prediction: CDA Slammers Macias Wins 1-0

Real SoCal EGSL (7-0-1, Rank #4) vs SD Surf EGSL Academy (7-0-1, Rank #1)
It doesn't get any easier for the SD Surf EGSL Academy in the afternoon game, as the two teams with tied the best SCSDL records face off against each other. Tickets to this game will be hard to come by.
Prediction: Lots of great soccer. :)

LA Galaxy South Bay Elite (4-3-1, Rank #12) vs Strikers FC OC EGSL Bull (4-0-4, Rank #3)
The Strikers FC OC Bull team didn't play much in the summer, but they have been a model of consistency when they have played. They still remain undefeated (one of three SCSDL teams) with four wins and just as many ties. I think they are the clear favorite to win this game.
Prediction: Strikers FC OC EGSL Bull Wins 2-1

Have fun out there this weekend everyone! Drive Safe!!!

Cerritos Slammers 2-0 over Blues Dido. Strikers OC EGSL 2-0 over Yorba Linda Slammers.

Have fun out there this weekend everyone! Drive Safe!!!

A little sleepy around here so I thought I'd liven it up a bit.....This marks the last weekend of League play for many teams and there are some decent matchups on tap:

SATURDAY
Beach LB v LAGSB - 2 possession based teams will go at it. LAG will be looking to avenge the CRL game that got away from them.

Strikers v Surf - the battle of 1st and Second in the South. I give Surf the advantage in this one.

SUNDAY
West Coast v Strikers - this one should be a really nail biter. WC is a quality team and will give Strikers all they can handle. I call a tie 1-1.

Good luck, be safe and have fun!
