Cerritos Memorial Challenge Cup

Which Legends team is in Group A? I got LAGSB to win, unless it's Legends Pre-Academy in Group A, then I say a coin flip between those two.

Before schedules were up saw One of the two legends teams is coached by Marco Polo. Not sure which though.

Cerritos Memorial Challenge - Standings (Day 1)

Group A
  1. Legends FC - 6 Pts.
  2. CDA Slammers Cerritos - Segovia - 4 Pts.
  3. GPS OC - 1 Pt.
  4. West Coast - C Swanson - 0 Pts.
Should be a nice battle tomorrow between Legends and Segovia's girls for the group. A draw gets CDA into the quarters, while GPS will need a combination of results to jump into the 2nd slot.

Group B
  1. Galaxy SB Pre-Academy - 6 Pts.
  2. Empire SC - 3 Pts.
  3. Strikers North - 3 Pts.
  4. CDA Slammers Whittier - Troglia - 0 Pts.
Galaxy took care of business and will most likely face Slammers Reserve in the Quarters from Group C.

Group C
  1. OC Surf Pre-Academy - 6 Pts.
  2. Slammers Reserve - 3 Pts.
  3. CDA Slammers Fullerton - Silzer - 3 Pts.
  4. Santa Monica United - 0 Pts.
OC Surf continues to impress and looks to carry momentum past Santa Monica tomorrow.

Group D
  1. Legends - 6 Pts.
  2. Real Henderson Select - 6 Pts.
  3. CDA Slammers HB - Gimenez - 0 Pts.
  4. Rangers Pre-YSL - 0 Pts.
Legends and Real Henderson face off for positioning into the quarters.

Galaxy SB wins it 4-0 over Empire.

Heard Empire turned some heads with some quality wins over some established teams.

Empire turned more heads with absolutely brutal play. Glad Galaxy SB put a beatdown on them and it shows that Galaxy not only has the skill but the physical quality to beat anyone.

I saw them play last season and all I will say is they definitely get after it. Kudos to Galaxy for being able to play possession, despite that type of pressure and style of play, I've seen the best struggle against high press and getting knocked off the ball but Galaxy is definitely both skilled and physical enough to weather that kind of storm. Going to be a fun season watching all these teams battle.

Brutal is one of many synonyms that could be used having seen them play 4x this weekend.

Semi and finals were played at Silver Lakes. Morning was nice with some cooler weather but warmed up by 10:00. Afternoon was quite hot and final games were played on the grass unlike some of the semi’s that were on turf.

Blues over SD Surf in pks to win Man City tournament. Good back and forth battle in a rematch of national cup final. Great weather down in Del Mar this weekend, but seemed like a pretty weak field for the 2006 girls this year.
Well we know from the last two tournaments that Blues is good at parking the bus.

So I’m guessing you didn’t see them play in the last two tournaments? Blues didn’t park the bus in this tournament or the last one. Similar to last week against legends, final was back and forth with a few good chances for each team.
