if a player requests to be released from their team and their DOC approves the transfer is the release for the remainder of the 2017/2018 season and therefore player is eligible to plate state cup?

Or is the player requesting/REQUIRED to be transferred for the remainder of 2017/2018 AND committing to the 2018/2019 season?

If the player was rostered with current team when applied for state cup you cannot have he/she play elsewhere as the roster freeze was in December. Release will be for 2017-2018.

Whats the rule for changing DA teams at this time? (from one DA team to another?)

So is it draw date or roster freeze?

Any player on a team roster as of the date of bracket draw cannot play for another team. Players who are completely released from a team roster by the bracket draw date have until the roster freeze date to get on another roster.

But a player within the same club can be “club passed” to another team within the club, right?
As long as the age group is correct.

I think it may actually depend on whether the original team is playing in state cup and that if it isn’t tha5 the player wouldn’t be cup tied.

I was interested and looked...one refinement-it’s if the original team participated in the draw (if the initial team participated in the draw and then withdrew, the player would still be cup-tied). That actually seems to potentially harm the player and not even serve to protect the team!

Let me provide clarity-- player initiated the release prior to the required date and it was approved by calsouth. The club the player wants to play state cup is requiring that the player commit to the fall season otherwise it is considered 'guesting' at state cup and that's not allowed?

If he gets rostered to that club I can't see why it's considered guesting. Unless this is the club rule?

Pretty sure the rosters for next season don’t need to be “locked” until mid-August.
The club could certainly try to make you commit to them now.
But that’s not a Cal-South rule.

Yes this is correct. The player will have to be registered with the club and state cup team. Of course they could leave later, as they have the right to.

But many Clubs don't want to roster players just for State Cup, who they know won't continue with the team/club. So these clubs may tell the player they have to commit to the team, and require them to pay season club dues that are non-refundable if the player leaves. This is what our coach requires.

He is just being a bully.

He is just being a bully.
Bully? No, to the contrary. He just values what has been created the past year, what the players have put in to get where they are, and doesn't want a rent-a-team/players for state Cup. These new players will necessarily take time from players on the team.

If a player want to commit to the them going forward, he will consider an add. Not sure what definition of "bully" you go by. But its lame.
