Surf Cup Challenge v2007 Silverlakes Thanksgiving Showcase?

Final 6-0. Blues is an excellent team and would have won today hands down without the “borrowed one”.
North Texas still has a long way to go before they can compete with the brass that So Cal has to offer.
WOW! So much for bragging.

Surf 3, Eagles 2
Heck of a game. Eagles keeper stood on her head all game long. Very impressive. Always a battle between these two teams.
The finals will be just another league game for both these teams... also for the last 5 years have been hearing how great Texas is but they never show up at Surf Cup for some reason....it's like the fast race horse from out of the county and when they step on US soil lose their mojo

Agreed, was a great game, the own goal right near the end was an unfortunate break for the eagles, tho that shot may have been headed for the back of the net regardless.

Was a good back and forth battle with eagles opening the scoring and then a strong response from Surf to leave it level 1-1 at half.

Then in 2nd half Surf goes up 2-1 on a well placed pass and nice finish.

Eagles respond with a nice counter to draw it at 2-2.

And then, yes, the winning goal happened. Great game to Surf.

Referee work was curious at times, as things got physical, which is of course part of the game, but would like to see refs control that stuff a little more at this age, as there's plenty of time down the line for that to occur.

Nonetheless, another tight battle between two great teams :)

Great weekend of soccer.
Any update on Surf win over Blues and Slammers over Legends in the Finals?
Both wins were 1-0.

Very good back and forth game b/w Surf and Blues. Questionable PK call with two minutes left was how the game ended. Very tough way for the game to be decided. Great weekend of soccer from both of these teams.
Also watched the 3rd place game with Eagles & Solar. I felt like Eagles were unlucky not to win that game.
Kudos to those teams (Blues & Eagles)for sending Solar packing.

I want to thank Split That and Adidas26 for the kind words. I can tell you that the SoCal teams, especially The Eagles, better be ready to bring their "A" Game as the Top Solar 07G team is coming to town and redemption is on their mind. For the record, the team that played in Surf Cup in August was actually the clubs "C" Team and recently joined Solar from an independent club. I would not consider them Solar as they do not compare to Solar 07G Colvin. To be fair, not too many teams in fact can be or should be compared to them.

You will see in a few weeks how the top Solar 07G team brings the Thunder to SoCal! I can attest to the statement that this team is truly the best in the nation and they take soccer to a new level. Their technical skills and determination is top notch.

Visit our Facebook page for a preview of what you should expect from these future USGNT / USWNT players. To be honest, I foresee the USGNT coaches contacting Solar about having these girls represent the US when they reach U14. If the SoCal coaches are lucky, maybe a few of their players may get the nod to join them.

See you soon!
blah, blah, blah, blah, blah..................future what...best in nation...every year the same thing.......the Thunder turned into a drizzle.......

Wow 6-0! That's very surprising. From what I'm hearing that Solar team is having goalie issues. Seems like a great weekend of soccer for all teams. 4-4 draw with the Eagles that some say that Solar team controlled 75% of the game. I think that Solar team showed they could hang with Cal teams. 1 loss out of 4 games isn't bad. Looking at the results they scored the most goals in the tournament. If they sure up their goalie issue, Cal teams better watch up for these young girls.

Watching the 2nd half of the game, I would say it was more like 50/50, and if it wasn't for a couple unlucky fumbles by the Eagles keeper with a wet ball, Eagles would have won.

@Chauffeur Sounds like both keepers had the same problem then. Great tournament for all the teams. Wish my daughter's team was on Eagles, Solar, So-Cal Blues, and Surfs level.

Yes, the wet ball combined with crazy fog & the age of the GKs made things a little more unpredictable than usual in the box.

Texas is well-coached and they used the width of that specific field very well, and definitely controlled the run of play in the first half.

However, Eagles are also well-coached and adjusted well at half and did have the game on the edge of sealed off more than once. But some heady play by the Texas kids to get to a mishandled ball off deep shots drew them back to level each time. To be fair, the Eagles GK did make some amazing saves this weekend, and that's what she should carry forward with her.

In the end, the final 4 teams at this tournament are all really solid. Great players all across positions, and hopefully, amidst all the pressures they will encounter from various directions in club soccer, they retain the simple love of playing the game as they mature -- and managing that task and balancing things out in their soccer life is on us.

It was a great weekend of soccer! See ya down the line!

I don’t know if I’d call a rocket to the chest that leaves the keeper crying and gasping for air, an “unlucky fumble” but I guess we can agree to disagree.

Nonetheless, I was very impressed with the keeper play from the Cali teams all weekend. The competitive intensity and athleticism of the Blues, SD Surf and Eagles was impressive as well.

Gotta at least give them credit for putting themselves out there and coming out West. Texas teams have consistently been coming out to SoCal and Vegas the last few years. Everyone benefits because of that. We don't go out to Dalllas Cup as much as they come out here. And quite honestly, they could easily make the argument that there is no need for them to come out here as there is plenty of competition in Texas, especially North Texas.

Thanks Justafan...

NTX took Vegas in Jan(05, 06 and 07 if I recall)... Navy, Blues, Eagles, Slammers were there for 07s, only missing Surf... Cali is different for sure, 07s can't break through, maybe it's the liberal air...(just joking)

No excuses, Solar got pasted, Solar better than a 6-0 loss though. Why don't yall come this way and prove your dominance in Texas? Or we will meet you in middle, Denver, in June for Supercopa. Several top NTX teams will be there. Gotta win on the road to win a Natty in a few years.

Texas clubs are comparable to SoCal. Many great clubs, but should be a bit more humble as many have not fared well at Surf Cup. Going to Dallas Cup in the summer is brutal -- heat and humidity is horrible at that time of year. Vegas Cup seems to be the best tourney to see each other out of State. As stated, Texas has very solid programs, top notch. When they get older may see each other more through ENCL and DA Showcases.

Our girls a few years ago went to the Super Copa G when it was held in Dallas. Yes, the weather was brutal. But they held their own against Texas teams.
