ECNL Week 3

SILVER ELITE
Ok, week 2 in the books. Week 3 should be interesting. Saturdays games (except Slammers/ WCFC) should be pretty straight forward. Sunday's game, on the other hand, will really shake things up for the season.
9/24
Eagles/ Del Sol
Blues
/ Heat
Slammers/ WCFC
RSC/ Sereno

Slammers and West coast should be a good indication of if WC's loss to RSC was a fluke or sign of the times in our age group.
9/25
Eagles/ Sereno
RSC/ Del Sol
Strikers/ Slammers
WCFC/ Surf
Arsenal
/ Heat
The top 4 will get split up this week. RSC/ Del Sol is going to be interesting. RSC is putting up some impressive scores. Del Sol notched 2 quick wins without KT. I imagine she will be missing this week as well? Keep us updated.

Surf has scored some and given up some so far this season, but Blues and Slammers are no cupcakes. Missing 4/5 to their national teams has caused some adjustments in the line up and formations, but still seem to get the job done. Not sure when those girls will be back. WCFC had an early slip, which is new for them, but WCFC is always a thorn in the side of Surf. This will be interesting.

WCFC wa missing 4 players vs RSC, because of homecoming. They also have a small roster of only 15 players of which 2 are GKs.

RSC is much stronger this year. Strikers took a beating by them on Sunday. To be fair, Strikers was missing 3 more of their starters just btwn Saturday's game and Sunday. My money would be on RSC.

I hear ya.....W/exception of surf (feels like they've got platoons of talent in this group), a short bench (very short) seams par for the course.

Damn, WCFC 6-1 over slammers. Impressive win over a good squad. We will have our hands full tomorrow.

A lot of homecomings this weekend which might pull some of the seniors away from the field. But still, that is a thumping.

Surf has platoons of talent.....And the score board validates that.
Surf loses a YNT holding mid who aged out and starts for Colorado and they replace her with a holding mid with YNT pool experience and committed to UNC. Just in case that wasn't enough they add another forward/defender with YNT pool/player experience and committed to USC. Both players are very talented!

MC, is this sarcasm??? Not sure how to read it...Also surprised to see blow outs at this level...must be injuries??? Several teams have given up a boatload of goals this season I would have expected tighter GD's not sure what is the norm at this level or if key players are resting for college etc???

I'm more shocked Blues lost to Heat FC 1-4. IMO, many players are suffering from club soccer senioritis. It means- don't want to get hurt my last year of club soccer, since I am already committed.

I know of one Legends player who was injured during National League championships her Senior year. Had to redshirt 1st year and still struggling to get on the pitch.

I believe MacKenzie Cerda and Annika Rodriguez both playing at UCLA were also injured during their HS senior year. Both ended up not playing much as freshmens either. A current USC freshmen player also developed a nagging injury during her her HS senior year....same outcome.

Senioritis, homecoming, injuries, missing player A,b or C.....biggest difference I see in this age group is inconsistency of effort & work rate. Especially surprised to see from kids who are committed to big name soccer schools. Better hope their future college coach doesn't pop in for a weekend check up:eek:

Yeah, plus CM is scoring at will again. It's clearly their conference to lose.

TK is having quite a freshman year at Colorado......Turned on Sportscenter a couple of weeks ago and she had a header goal that was the #2 play of the day on the SC daily top 10! Crazy..

IMO, effort at practice should always be there. I could understand what their thought process could be during a game. Loose 50/50 ball, do I go in hard knowing I might end up with an injury? IMO, probably not worth it in the grand scheme of things.

No. I was dead serious. When we played Slammers, we got up early, then they fought back...hard. It was closer than the score showed. WCFC loses 3-1 to RSC, so I expected the game to be closer. I never saw 6-1 between those two teams happening.

Yes, they are both on fire. I'm happy for both of them. But, in addition to CM, the addition of the AH and TM has been what this team needed. They bring an energy and work rate that we haven't had in years. Its hard to pull up on a 50/50 ball when those two are going all in on every ball.

Our coach asked at the beginning of the season, "Do you want to just train and prepare for college, relax and enjoy the last year of club or win a National Championship?" Every girl wanted a National Championship. Afterwards, he told me they really didn't have a choice, but he wanted to hear what they had to say :)

You nailed it, that is the grit and determination that Vince Thomas fostered at Eagles. It really sucks that he isn't the coach this year :(.
