CRL (California Regional League) anyone?

Because they are 10.
Because it's asinine they even have CRL for 10 year olds this year and they added your year group.
Because driving two hours to watch ten year olds is dumb- adding a flight To Seattle is laughable

Tell me how you really feel...

At the G05 age group the CRL winner did not play further after winning. I hope they do the same for the G06's.

Agree, I don't even understand the purpose of CRL at this age other than money. All its going to do is give teams a slight advantage going into State Cup because they get to play better teams from CSL, SCDSL, and Presidio before Cup.
I guess I don't understand the hate for CRL at this age group. With maybe only a couple of exceptions, it looks like most of the top teams in his age group will be playing CRL. To your point, it allows these teams an additional opportunity to play against the best local teams. If teams are essentially using CRL instead of playing in a few other tournaments, why is it a bad thing?

Agreed

But I think the hate on CRL at this age is that for the olders, CRL is another opportunity to go to Regionals without having to win State Cup. For this age there is no Regionals, sooooo whats the point? Other than a "long" tournament that takes up a couple months of weekends and cost money.

Don't get me wrong though, I feel like the teams that play in CRL before State Cup have a huge advantage to those who don't. So I guess that's the "selling point".

I would think CRL winner for any age group that has a National cup and therefore Regional Event would then qualify for the regional event. But what do I know...no seriously.....I have no idea!

The winners of CRL and National Cup at U12 do not go to the regional tournament that leads to the national title. Why the exception if National Cup starts at U12? I have no idea. But in the last few years, the winners of National Cup and CRL at U12 have qualified for an alternative "regionals", which was the end of the road for these U12 teams (winners do not advance to a national tournament). For example, last year, the U12 National Cup and CRL champions played in the regionals for the winners of State Cup (I think they played in Colorado). This year, right after our team won CRL, I got in touch with CalSouth and they confirmed that they were working in a regionals tournament for U12 which has become this Region IV Mountain Pacific Championships.
CRL for U12 was a great competition last year, and this year should be the same. A few posters in this forum need to eat a snickers bar, they seem to be way too angry.

Someone believing CRL at this age is unnecessary doesn't mean they are "angry". Get a thicker skin

It's most likely a parent who's DD's team didn't make the cut. Just like those parents who complain about how foolish ODP is at this age. Same song and dance.

CRL pros, the best competition for the 06 age group. Cons, traveling an hour and a half to two hours for a game. I rather do a tournament,

Has anyone heard which teams made it into the CRL from the playin weekend?
It wasn't clear with regards to the cross play brackets which teams would get in.

Thanks

Your entire sentence. 100% NOT related, please stop repeating a lie.

My DD and 'her' were on the same ODP team up in Ventura and they got to be friends. My DD comes back and tells me that 'she' told my DD that 'Coach Cupcake is her uncle'. So if it's a lie then the little girl told my DD a story that wasn't true.. I also spotted her father and BW chilling/watching the tryouts together.

I'm not going accuse your kid of "telling a story that wasn't true". Believe what you want. This rumor is old and meaningless at this point.

So either the sweet kid from Vegas is lying, my kid is lying or some anonymous 'mom' on a blog is lying.. I know where my money is going.

If the next round of games in August is at Galway Downs I seriously hope we get the early 8 or 9 o'clock game to stay out of the heat.

Fields were in good condition, refs were good, parents were (kinda) well-behaved. So far the results have gone as expected. And thank goodness for the return of headers.
