Having reached the halfway mark, it's now Surf's to lose. Galaxy is right on their heels and in my honest opinion is the only team that can catch them. It wouldn't necessarily take a Surf loss, but with the 2nd half of CRL season picking up again after league Surf will have two tough tests against Legends and Beach FC. Draws in those games could make it interesting down the stretch.

For our girls, IE Surf, CRL has been a good measuring stick. They've run the gamut of experiences.

First game out of the gate our girls got a dose of reality in facing LA Galaxy SB, and for as much as they dominated our girls, the girls didn't fall apart. They only gave up one goal through 55 minutes and then let in an easy one towards the tail end. They showed a lot of resiliency in that first game.

Second game, they played some very nice soccer on the turf field and took a step in the right direction in controlling a game, just couldn't get the score to match the soccer played.

Games 3-5 they started to open up a bit more get more opportunities, and against Blues - Kale yesterday our girls showed their growth from the first time they played Kale during CRL Play In.

Looking forward to a lighter soccer schedule in regards to games per day during league and then picking up CRL afterwards. Best of luck to everyone during league.

Surf 5-0 I.E. Surf
ouch, but that's one good Surf squad.
Yes, very good ball movement and communication. They do the little things very well.

My DD didn't do her teammates any favors today in goal, one of her worst performances in some time. Back to the grind, sometimes you need a good butt kicking to get back in gear.

Congrats Surf ladies, it was fun and painful to watch at the same time. Best of luck the rest of the way!

It is noticeable when keepers have bad days. Good luck to all the teams battling out in CRL. Wishing our team could have made the cut.

Things just got a whole lot interesting at the top of the table with Beach's win on Monday. The run for 1st is now a 3 horse race as Surf has a tough one to end CRL against Legends, Galaxy SB has a couple of big games against Galaxy SD and Blues Kale, while Beach FC has the easiest route to win their final 3 games.

The top 4 should remain the same the rest of the way with Legends and Galaxy SD looking to jump into the mix. Bottom half of the table looks set with IE Surf and Surf II so close to breaking into the top half.

Very noticeable when the keeper makes a mistake. It is funny that every game I watch I see field players make multiple mistakes, but that usually results in a turnover, not a goal. When our keepers mess up, scoreboard lights up.

My daughter is usually her strongest critic. Had a game where she gave up an early goal, but we ended up winning 2-1. I wasn't there to watch, but it was videotaped. When I watched the video, I noticed that the goal she gave up had the ball start left, she moved, then the ball spun back right while in the air resulting in her only getting some fingers on it a giving up a goal. Thought I'd show her and tell her it was a tough play, she wouldn't have any of that.

Short memories are a requirement for any keeper.

A link to the opening play of the Beach vs SD Surf game, almost two minutes of possession

It's always refreshing to see possession based teams playing at high levels. Continue the amazing work Beach FC. The next step in the progression is to turn possession into scoring opportunities. Possession is great but it becomes truly beautiful when it can be maintained while moving forward. LAGSB G05 is one of the best at doing that. They attack when they see an opening and even though they may occasionally turn the ball over, they can consistently create shots off of their possession. But that type of soccer takes time & it all begins with the possession fundamentals shown in the video clip above. Impressive clip!
