For reference, during my too-long college career I was actually an English Lit major for a semester. I probably read the book the first time before you were born. I read it again in 1984, just for comparison purposes.

His utopian (dystopian) control center was Ingsoc.
Its the tyranny of big government that Orwell illustrated so well.
