G2003 CRL seeding ?

SitByMyself

BRONZE
Anyone understand how the brackets were divided? Don't understand why the top 3 teams from CRL last season (and national cup champ, finalist, and semi finalist) are all in same bracket.

Majority of teams are coming from CSL Premier and SCDSL Discovery.
CRL still a viable platform for healthy competition outside regular league play.
Interesting to see how new format of 16 teams will play out.
Brackets are SKEWED! If there's going to be two brackets, not sure of seeding with IE Surf & Hawks in the same bracket.
Give them a chance to battle it out at end of season as possibly brackets number 1 seeds.
SDSC Navy & OVC play up at '02 level in regular league play. See if that provides advantage late in CRL season.
Beach DPL-Demelo auto-qualified from last season CRL (I think) but they're not listed for this season.
They just won a National Championship. Were they promoted to their clubs DA Pilot!?
Beach FC LB Sudyka now showing as DPL team. Was DPL offered to Beach FC SB Lohn but turned down to play SCDSL Discovery?
DPL clubs are said to advertise being on par with ECNL. Showing of only 2 DPL teams in CRL suggests otherwise.
Good luck to all teams this season!

The Pilot teams (formerly DPL Pilot/ now DA Pilot) are following DA rules and are not permitted to play in outside leagues. DeMelo’s team is a DA pilot and therefore Is not eligible for CRL, despite their auto-bid. The same is true for Galaxy’s DPL team from last year. Sudyka’s team is still a DPL team and is allowed to play in outside leagues. Lohn’s team is the number 4 team at Beach (02/03 DA, 03 DA Pilot, 03 DPL, 03 Discovery) and did not turn down DPL.

Hope that helps answer your questions!

Last season in SCDSL, Beach Sudyka was F1 Europa and Beach Lohn was in the Champions Division. Wouldn't that put Lohn just ahead of Sudyka? If so, Beach FC is DA, are they recognizing SCDSL Discovery over their DPL league by not placing Lohn in DPL? Also, Beach Pilot (Demelo) listed as a team selected for 2018-19 National League. Did they get exception to play as defending National Champions or will they have to drop to meet DA rule of no outside competition? ~Man those Beach teams are good! :)

I don’t think they will play national league because they are not playing crl, but who knows. Yes the beach teams are good and if beach made a super team they would be amazing. I heard some players from Sudyka’s team played with Demelo on their championship run.

Yes the brackets definitely seem skewed, but there are some decent teams in the other bracket that have played the top teams tough .

The seeding is just messed up. Three confirmed National League teams (IE surf, hawks, navy) plus both Beach teams all in same bracket for CRL.

Just saying something isn't right.

Agree. No disrespect meant. Any given day any of these teams can pull off a win. But....
I definitely agree with you. Like you said, any given day, but most days the top 3 teams will beat the others. Which leads to a question, why two brackets in the first place?

Yes. And is there a playoff for the one guaranteed ticket to Far West Regionals?

You're right there are decent teams in the B bracket. Looking at last season results for CRL and National Cup - Legends DPL, CDA Slammers, and Rebels SC had good showings. But players are always on the move at this age group, especially in today's soccer landscape, so it's to be seen if those teams stayed intact. Especially in the case of Legends as they're a DA club and it seems like most DPL rosters from last season are now on the DA Pilot teams.

IE Surf, Hawks, Navy with day one wins as expected. What’s more surprising, both Beach teams with loses or both Legends teams with wins?

I think there are a couple different dynamics going on with the different teams. Surf, Hawks, and Navy are solid teams that I believe have had continuity on their rosters for several years. They are all good teams and it really comes down to who woke up that morning ready to play. In regard to the Beach and Legends teams, it seems with all the changes lately (ie. DA, DA2, DPL, pilot..etc..etc) its hard to tell which teams are going to gel and be good, and which ones are just players thrown together who have yet to mesh. Players can leave a club, or go to another team within the same club. Until the teams play each other its all just conversation.

I was a bit surprised at some of the lopsided scores. Not necessarily who won or lost, but more just the goal differential. Usually CRL games are not like that. Its also showing CV with a red card. Anyone know what happened there?

The reason is "Second Caution", if that helps.

Didn’t mean to hit a nerve, i was just curious. In our game the ref was pretty much non existent so I was surprised. Plus it’s kind of unusual to get a red when you win 4-1. But thanks for your in depth analysis.

And I hit a nerve? I'm confused. I wasn't being sarcastic.

Whatever.

I'm surprised to see that both Beach teams go without a win this weekend. No big surprises in group A with IE Surf and Slammers at the top. Legends, Hawks, AC Brea and Navy tops of group B. It's tee'd up for some good soccer when these four play each other next weekend.
