Nice group of teams. Looking forward to it and I hope we are at the Polo fields.

>FC Golden State - 2006 PDA

Smart players, good coach, but not on same level as other teams.

Not the same level as which other teams? If you are saying there are teams on the list who are better that is true, but FCGS is not anywhere near the bottom of this list. Much has changed since early summer. I believe we will be able to compete with any team on that list.

I tried to edit my comment to be more clear but the time had elapsed and I knew an FCGS parent would chime in, so here we go :)

>Much has changed since early summer.

If that's the case then maybe I'm wrong. Last time I saw FCGS play was at Surf Cup.

I'll explain the "not at the same level" comment. I don't know what the selection criteria is for the tournament, and I'm sure they don't want it too many teams from one league, but I can list 5 or 6 teams from the SCDSL that would be better entries in the tournament if the Thanksgiving tourney is following the Summer tournament motto of "Best of the Best". Don't get me wrong, I like your team and your style of play. I think that for the girls that continue in the program that they'll be formidable competition for ANYBODY in a few years. But right now?

Here's the list from SCDSL (in alphabetical order):

Beach LB - Perez
Beach SB - Milner
CDA Slammers - Salazar
LA Galaxy South Bay Elite I
Real SoCal
SoCal Blues - Rennie

But like you said, if things have changed since summer I think that's great and I'm 100% willing to take back what I said if they kick butt at the tournament. Good luck.

Yeah no worries beep, you've said some very nice things about our team I didn't take any offense:

The girls aren't the top of the bracket, but we obviously belong competing at that level. I'm not sure which game you watched at Surf Cup, but I felt we were competitive in all of the games. The girls have work to do in order to execute in the ways that the coach wants them to, but perhaps the biggest blessing that we have is that our parents understand where the coach is taking them and are ok with the idea that he is focused on development over winning.

Oh one more thing, I don't think we'll kick butt, but we will competitive.

From the list that you mentioned, CDA Slammers - Salazar, Real SoCal and Beach SB - Milner shouldn't be in it. There are more teams who are accepted that shouldn't be in it. But if you thing the best of the best are accepted you are wrong. If you thing the best top teams are Surf, Blues, Beach, Galaxy, Legends and so on at this age group then you are wrong again. You should look at which clubs are developing their players feather than teaching them to kick and run. Take a look at the past Surf Cup tournament and other tournaments and look at the different age groups who won those tournaments. Look at the big picture.

I don't think that entry to a tournament should be based on how a group of girls MIGHT be a few years from now, or on the tournament organizer's subjective opinion as to which clubs promote long term development.

Is not. It's all about money, money money. This is why they make three tiers. Flight 1, 2 and three. If they really wanted to make it the best of the best out there, they should make it only flight one and would have the criteria listed on their website. Money, money, money.
