CRL, California Regional League, 2016-2017 (05s) - Tech Specs

At a guess I'd say he's not a fan of direct soccer. Neither of the two teams are possession-oriented.
I'd kinda agree with that. But personal reasons more so I'd say. Both teams couldn't really find a rhythm.

I would agree as well... our coach has been working more and more on possession but sometimes they do revert to kick ball when playing these better teams... like legends and today with la galaxy sb. We also have such varying levels of ability on our team... I don't really see that as much with other teams. I think perhaps we have too many clubs in a small area.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but there will not be Regionals for this age group, 2005 U12's or National Cup Regionals.
Yes, U12 (05s) CRL winner goes to Far West Regionals-- so does 05 Cal South National Cup winner. If they win Regionals though, they would not go on to National Championships

Are you sure??? The rest of the United States and Nor Cal. is playing 9v9 on the small fields for this age group. I believe So Cal is the only Region in the US that decided to play 11v11.

It says so in the CRL rules:

6.01 US Youth Soccer Region IV Championships Wild Cards
In the U-12, U-13, U-14, 15, U-16, U-17 and U-18 age groups, one Wild Card slot to the US Youth Soccer Region IV Far West Regional Championships will be awarded to Cal South Premier Division teams, and one to the Cal North Division teams.

But who knows? In any case-- congratulations to Beach for winning CRL!!!

WOW. Alternative facts for sure! How embarrassing that Surf would allow that kind of misinformation to go out... and as for @goalnation, all they had to do was look on the CRL website to verify the "Actual" facts.

No offense to the wonderful players on the Surf team. It's one of the best age group teams out there... so... why?

Did they win EGSL or maybe their group in SCDSL and maybe Goalnation just got the league wrong? If not, someone has some egg on their face.....

A link to the opening play of the Beach vs SD Surf game, almost two minutes of possession

I have watched Beach play this weekend and recently this year and was very surprised to see their style of play and remembered this video from CRL last year. They made it looks so easy against one of the best teams in the age group (Surf) but what has happened? I understand they've been winning recently but it seems like they've changed styles and even against the lesser teams. I understand they may have lost two players but surely two players doesn't affect a group that dramatically? It would be interesting to get an inside point of view. Is Winning > Development??

What team does your daughter plays for? It almost seems that you have created a new handle to post this, but everything is possible ... In any case, since I know that my daughter is developing as well as any player in this age group, I think that your question is pointless at best. You seem to be one of those soccer snob parents that after watching a couple of videos of Barcelona or Spain playing, and influenced by the group thinking of other snob parents in your team, confuses player development with style of play.

Apologies, It wasn't meant to come across as a disrespectful comment in any way. I was extremely impressed with beach last year, and by posting this video and commenting about the possession, it seemed like you were too! And rightly so! I was just curious about the change in style.

I actually prefer to read why Ajax's Academy has been so successful is DEVELOPING players. Here's a quote that may question some of the things you post on this forum. The question would be is US Soccer, The boys DA Clubs, and all the professional academies in Europe snobs as well for taking this developmental approach?

IMO, losing two players, especially those 2, that play in the middle and control the tempo of the game, changes a lot for that team. They won't be the same team going forward.

Sorry "John", you were the one calling teams out. The problem is that I feel like my kids are developing, but you insist that they are not. Please let me take advantage of your expertise on soccer development, could you tell me what I should do to develop a player of this type:
If you have additional advise on how to work with players playing up in age, please share, I will follow your instructions to improve the game of my kids. I lived all my life on the other side of the pond, playing around the clock, but I guess I did not pay enough attention.
Thanks a lot in advance!

With one weekend to go it all comes down to Surf and Blues. Surf is sitting on 29 points, while Blues has a game in hand and sits at 24 points.

Blues will need to win out, with a tough Saturday game against Beach - Perez and a favorable match up against Beach - SB on Sunday. They'll also need some help from IE Surf who faces Surf on Sunday. It's a tall task to ask from the IE squad as they have had trouble scoring and putting together a complete game, although they've had moments of good ball movement. It's a long shot for sure, but crazier things have happened. Best of luck to everyone in the final weekend.

What is Technician72 coming out of retirement? Thats a partial breakdown of CRL, your DD looked good between the pipes on Saturday playing up over the years is paying off.

I was up at Silverlakes this weekend watching my friend's daughter's team play a Blues team and the Blues team was pretty legit. It was coached by Draluck and they used the width of the field very well. They knew what to do with the ball once the won possession and had several girls that could put shots on frame from distance. If there is a team better than them in the 05 age group that is quite an accomplishment for 12 year olds.

Not gonna lie, being around the 05s got me pumped.

Kid did as expected, made some mental mistakes and made some saves beyond her age. The good thing about the mistakes is she's being allowed to make them, analyze the game and make decisions, if it's the wrong one she gets the opportunity to correct it in game or another game down the line.

Saturday against Legends North, early in the game she stepped near post and it was a manageable shot but she had her defender step in front of her and she locked up and the ball went in. I chalk that one up to guesting, if that's her team I would expect her to charge that ball and blow up her defender if need be.

Sunday against Legends South, she came out outside the box, opened her hips to switch the field with her feet, she spotted her teammate but didn't eye the defender marking her. She place the ball in front of her teammate with no room for a run, ball should have been at her feet. She did 2 out of 3 things right but was aware of what she did and now knows to make that extra read.

FYI, Ice Cream afterwards, both days, especially since I missed her great save on Saturday because I was texting.

Not many better than them, Blues Draluck is definitely Top 5, dare I say 3.
